About Honley & District Aid in Sickness
Honley & District Aid in Sickness was established on the 1st February 1952 as a registered charity to assist the less financially well off persons who are resident in the Parish and neighbourhood of Honley, to assist them in times of hardship during sickness and convalescence. This includes helping with medicines, heating, domestic help and convalescence where a person or family may be struggling to make ends meet during times of extra expense to cover times of sickness. The charity can assist a person or family in the short term, from birth up to the age of 65, if they qualify. Over 65's are covered by another charity.
A person maybe on long term sick leave and find that they are no longer entitled to a full wage and are struggling to pay heating bills during the cold winter months and to buy medicines. Honley Aid in Sickness maybe able to help ease the burden a little with this. Each case is assessed confidentially to see if they are entitled to help and if so, where help can be provided.
Assistance with disabilities can also be looked into, where a person maybe on a reduced income and cannot afford items which will make life easier, such as everyday small gadgets and can also offer advice as to where further help maybe obtained.
There are many ways in which a person or family can be affected by illness and Honley & District Aid in Sickness is always hear to listen and assist where it is able.
Honley & District Aid in Sickness also has two wheelchairs, where one can be loaned to a person when it is only needed for a short term cover and no other wheelchair is immediately available to them.
